Forming the Vessel

The clay is rolled into coils or ropes that are stacked onto one another to build up the vessel wall. Notice the white press mold or puki that was used to start the clay bowl. A coil is laid into place to form the vessel wall. Additional coils are added as needed. The stacked coils are pinched up with fingers into the desired shape and thickness.
